AYSO Academy
In the Fall of 2004, several regions in AREA 3T (Westchester) started an AYSO Academy, to retain players and teach those
interested in learning more about soccer and basic techniques. Tarrytown attempted to start with U6 and U8 and slowly expand to older age groups, but we're still looking for someone to organize that. The Academy is a selfsufficient entity, practice only, open to those kids who want to be there (not parents who want their kids to be there) and the cost will be approx. $70.
The curriculum is highly structured and developed over the last five years. We need an AYSO coach to lead the first year, assited by by several other coaches, who will be trained and certified by Tony Elmore, the Section 3 Coach Trainer, who has several years experience in running the Academy sucessfully in several regions.
Discipline and commitment are important factors of the Academy, as are learning according to ability, testing (when you're ready to pass) and player evaluation. Similar to karate, players will advance from "white to black belts" (color uniforms in this case). If you're interested, and want more information, contact Peter van der Heijden .
